Where the myth comes from
The reputation comes from DIY stick-and-pokes: kitchen-table work with a random needle and ink that was never meant for skin. Those do fade — because the ink sits too shallow or unevenly. A professional works with sterile tattoo needles and places the ink at exactly the right depth, in the dermis, where it stays.
What determines how your tattoo ages
- Sun: UV light is the biggest fader. Use SPF 30 or higher on your tattoo in summer.
